After a detailed investigation of hearing with a battery of hearing tests, patients with Sensory Neural hearing loss are recommended appropriate hearing aids. These days hearing aids are digital hearing aids which are programmed according to the patient’s hearing loss. This programming is done on the basis of the audiogram and then further fine tuned to the patient’s needs. Patient is advised about the variety of hearing aid styles that are available like Behind the Ear (BTE), Receiver in the Canal (RIC), Completely in the Canal (CIC), etc. Patients and family are counseled about hearing aid care and maintenance. Patients are advised to follow up every year for a fresh audiogram and reprograming of their hearing aid. Patients attend Support groups and meetings to share their experiences about the hearing aid.
